Margaret Elouise Marks, age 99, of Marshall, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall. Interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the church.

Margaret Elouise Hansvick was born on Nov 3, 1915 in Vesta Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Elias and Maggie Hansvick. Margaret attended school in Belview and graduated with the class of 1933. She went on to get her nurses training and then worked at hospitals in Marshall and Redwood Falls.

On September 16, 1939, Margaret was united in marriage to Roger William Marks, Sr., at the Presbyterian Church in Vesta. The couple lived and farmed 10 miles East of Marshall. Margaret loved her work as a nurse and did some private work for Drs. Ford, Eckdale, and Gray. The couple raised 6 children and shared over 44 years of marriage before Roger died in July of 1984. In 1988, she moved to Marshall, living in the 4th Street apartments, and then Hill Street Place. When she needed more assistance with her daily care she moved to Morningside Heights Care Center at the age of 93.

Margaret was a long-time member of Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall. She volunteered with the Weiner Memorial Auxiliary for many years at the thrift store.

Margaret was well known for her painting ability and willingness to share her talents. She always considered family to be a priority and put them first. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Margaret died on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 99 years, 5 months and 29 days. Blessed be her memory.

Margaret is survived by her 3 sons, Roger Jr. (Carolyn) Marks of Marshall, MN, Wes (Marlys) Marks of Richfield, MN, Richard Marks of Lordsburg, NM; 3 daughters, Helen (Larry) Hunt of Phoenix, AZ, Kaye (Charles) Hollitt of Flushing, MI, Elaine Dohmen of Escondido, CA; 11 grandchildren, Valerie (Dave), Wayne, Lynn, Roger (Chris), Bradley (Amy), Michael (Alexia), Andrew – deceased (Amy), Anna (Jason), Tim (Jackie), Jeff (Tia), Arianna (Jesse), Nick (Carol); many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Maybelle (Emil) Stoll of Fairfax, MN; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Maggie Hansvick; husband, Roger Marks, Sr.; grandson, Andrew Hollitt; son-in-law, Jim Dohmen; brothers, Floyd, Lawrence, John Elwood, Robert, and William Hansvick; sister, Idella Bunge.

The family invites everyone to the church basement for a luncheon following the committal service.
