Marta Lopez de Reyes, age 59, of Green Valley, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Avera McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Rayo do Luz Ministry in Ghent, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Granite Falls City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the church.

Marta Lopez was born on January 2, 1958, in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. She was the daughter of Cirilo and Juana (Salinas) Lopez. Marta grew up in Acapulco, moving to Texas at age 15. She returned to Mexico to finish High School and then trained to be a police officer. In 1980, Marta was baptized in Texas and then a year later, she was married to Santiago Reyes Jr. in Seguin, Texas.
The couple made their home in Victoria City, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Marta became a homemaker and mother to 5 children: Dulce, Claudia, Santiago III, Luis, and Mauricio. In 1987, the family moved to Brownsville, Texas. Then in 1995, they moved to Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Marta and Santiago shared 26 years of marriage before his passing in August of 2007. In 2015, Marta moved in with her family in Green Valley.
Marta was a faithful person, both to her family and to her Lord. She was an active congregant as Rayo de Luz Ministry in Ghent. She loved to go for walks, often times shopping the isles of her favorite stores. She also enjoyed watching TV, cooking, and especially time spent with her six grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.
Marta is survived by her 5 children, Dulce (Isaias) Presas Reyes of Brownsville, TX, Claudia (Cesar Alfredo) Ascencio Reyes of Green Valley, Santiago III (Evelyn Ramirez) Reyes of Marshall, Luis Rey Reyes of Los Angeles, CA, Mauricio Reyes of Brewton, AL; 6 grandchildren, Isaias Jr., Camila Sarai, Cassandra Joy, Sophia, Jessica, Santiago IV; 6 siblings, Laura Lopez Salinas, Jose Fernando Lopez Salinas, Edelmira Lopez Salinas, Olivia Lopez Salinas, Luis Rey Lopez Salinas, Yadira Lopez Salinas, all of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico;
many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Marta is preceded in death by her parents, Cirilo and Juana Lopez; husband, Santiago Reyes Jr.; and 2 granddaughters, Infant Girl Presas and Linda Presas.
The family invites attendees back to the Ministry in Ghent for a reception following the interment in Granite Falls.
