Monty Recker, age 74, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall. Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, Minnesota. A luncheon will follow in Carlin Hall at the church. Interment will be at a later date in the St. Anthony Cemetery in Lismore, Minnesota. A CCW Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will then be held from 5:00 –7:00 p.m. also at the church. The evening will conclude with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to his service on Saturday, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., also at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The family will be collecting written memories and stories. If you have anything you would like to share, please bring a note and leave it in the marked basket. Additional pages to fill out are available at both the visitation and service. The collection will be kept by the family; all are encouraged to participate. Thank you.

Monty Alan Recker was born on September 10, 1951, in Adrian, Minnesota. He was the son of Henry and Gwendolyn (Diekmann) Recker. Monty grew up on a century family farm outside Lismore where he was baptized as an infant, received first communion, and was confirmed in his youth at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He attended school at Saint Anthony School before graduating with the Adrian High School class of 1970. Monty continued his education at the vocational school in Pipestone until 1972; It was there that Monty met Marge.
On May 24, 1980, Monty finally married his best friend at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. He and Marge made their home in Marshall and he worked as a salesman, primarily focusing on office supplies. The couple had two children, Megan and Mitch, and spent over 45 years of marriage together.
Monty played organ for many years, sparking interest at the age of 14, he would commonly play for church and also entertained at family functions. He always enjoyed listening to good music and found peace and serenity while playing. He noted that Christmas mass was always a favorite service that he looked forward to participating in. His other enjoyments included spending time outdoors, grilling, horses in his younger years, and pet beagles in recent years, and the occasional chocolate covered strawberry Blizzard. Monty truly enjoyed time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Monty Recker died peacefully on December 29, 2025, in Marshall, Minnesota. He reached the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 19 days. Blessed and eternal be his memory.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Recker of Marshall; 2 children, Megan (and Nick) Umberger of Minneapolis, Mitch (and Jessica) Recker of Green Valley; 5 grandchildren, Kendall, Grayson, Maren, Aubrey, Raymond; 3 siblings, Jolene (and Bob) Eickhoff of Sleepy Eye, Jeri (and Mike) Kruger of Adrian, Todd (and Janell) Recker of Adrian; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Monty was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gwen Recker; brother, Henry “Butch” Recker Jr.; and a niece, Kaylee Recker.
