Randy Jay Sprik

Randy Sprik, age 66, of Edgerton, Minnesota, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton, Minnesota. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton. A luncheon will then be back at the church fellowship hall. Visitation will be held for an hour and a half prior to his celebration of life, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. also on Tuesday, at the church.

Randall Jay Sprik was born on March 10, 1960, in Orange City, Iowa. He was the son of Stanley and Leona (Wahlburg) Sprik. Randy was baptized as an infant in Hospers, Iowa, and attended the Christian School there through the 2nd grade. In 1968, Randy moved with his family to Worthington, Minnesota, where he attended the Worthington Christian School. Following graduation from the 8th grade in 1974, Randy made his profession of faith in 1977 and became a member of the Worthington Christian Reform Church. He then attended Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton, graduating with the class of 1978. Randy went on to attend Dordt College, in Sioux Center, Iowa, for one year.

On June 6, 1980, Randy was united in marriage to Ancerita Van Hofwegen and the couple made their home in Hardwick, Minnesota. They were blessed with three daughters: Cerrita, Deanne, and Laresa. He managed Glen's Food Center in Luverne until 1993 and later worked at the Cenex station in Edgerton, where he managed the petroleum division. It was during this time that Randy served 20 years on the Hardwick Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 5 years with the Hardwick City Council, and also set on the school board for Southwest Christian High School. Randy also owned Sprik Sanitation in Hardwick for about 10 years, and he was also actively involved in his church, serving as Deacon at First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton.

In 2004, Randy moved to Edgerton and worked at the Edgebrook Care Center as a maintenance director for five years. And in 2007, Randy purchased the NAPA store in Edgerton which he ran until 2023, when health complications forced his retirement. In 2011, Randy met Dorothy Erickson (Biranowski) and the couple was married in 2013. During his time at NAPA he would give customers the "daughter discount" which included instructions on basic vehicle maintenance. On warm summer days Randy loved hopping on his motorcycle, to ride and unwind through wind therapy on an unknown road.

Randy's enjoyments included time spent outdoors – especially while hunting and camping. He loved planning vacations and traveling, especially if it involved an ocean, and he was an avid gun collector. Randy knew how to work hard but also appreciated his time to rest, often finding watching a prairie sunset or campfire at day's end. He was a methodical planner and liked to stick to it, he was organized and brought order when needed, and Randy was very mechanically minded - saving the manual for every tool or appliance that he owned! Randy always looked forward to spending time with friends, relaxing, and laughing.

Randy died peacefully under the care of Hospice on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in Pipestone, Minnesota. He reached the age of 66 years and 3 months. Blessed be his memory.

He has survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Dorothy Sprik of Edgerton; daughters, Cerrita Tracy, Deanne (and Dustin) Donth, Laresa (and Ryan) Reed; mother, Leona Sprik of Edgerton; stepchildren; grandchildren; step-grandchildren; brother, Cal (and Susan) Sprik of Punta Gorda, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his father Stanley Sprik; sister, Kathy DeVries; and a grandson, Gauge Sprik.
