Robert Charles Meyer

Robert Meyer, age 80, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minnesota. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a light reception at funeral home, interment with military honors will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his celebration, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, also at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Robert Charles Meyer was born on April 28, 1945, in Marshall, Minnesota. He was the son of Robert Clayton and June (Mitchell) Meyer. Bob grew up in Marshall and attended school there, graduating with the high school class of 1963. He immediately served in the United States Navy during Vietnam, stationed on the USS John S. McCain and the USS Maddox. He returned home in 1967 when he met Ms. Cheryl Christensen. During their marriage they had two daughters, Marnie and Brooke.

On June 10, 1983, Bob was united in marriage to Jaclyn (Saunders) Taveirne. They made their home in Marshall as Bob added a stepdaughter, Jacky, to his family. Bob began working first at the Coca-Cola bottling plant, then as manager of the Blue Moon, worked at Culligan water and Schwan's before moving over to the Lyon County Jail and served as administrator prior to his retirement in April of 2010.

Bob was an active member of the Marshall Lions Club, the Ham Radio Club, Marshall VFW, and the Marshall American Legion. He was an avid collector - specializing in pens, watches, and pipes. Bob enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, attending air shows, and anything related to astronomy.

Robert Meyer died surrounded by the love of his brother on November 23, 2025, in Luverne, Minnesota. He reached the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 26 days. Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jackie Meyer of Marshall; daughters, Marnie (and Brandon) Silvernail of Baxter, Brooke (and Chad) Ylinen of Baxter; stepdaughter, Jacky (and Randy) Kruse of Polk City, IA; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Silvernail, Sophie Silvernail, Kalie Ylinen, Kamden Ylinen, Kennedi Ylinen, Ashley (and Ryan) Penning, Jeffrey (and Kendra) Kruse; 5 great-grandchildren, Emmett, Monroe, Lawson, Brighton, Sawyer; 5 siblings, Kris Lutter of Hutchinson, Jim (and Terri) Meyer of Redwood Falls, Cindy (and Steve) Bendel of Maple Grove, Gary (and Terri) Meyer of Corcoran, Dan (and Wanda) Meyer of Pierre, SD; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and June Meyer, and a grandson, Keegan Ylinen.
